The challenge
TM Event Hire was looking for a brand new website to replace their existing one which was becoming outdated and needed updating not just with information but with a more modern design to provide a more professional look and feel to the company to their target audience. I was also tasked with creating a method for allowing TM Event Hire to gather information to be able to create bespoke quotes for their clients. Currently a large number of customers were phoning and this mean’t the staff were having to note all details around each customers event manually. Therefore they requested a form that could be used to collect and store this information in one central place.
The user
TM Event Hire has a large user base with customers mainly aged from 18+. Most customers are looking for marquees to be able to celebrate events such as birthdays and weddings which require a marquee either as the main venue within a large area of land or within someone’s garden. The customer wanted to focus around these target markets aiming to promoting marquees to people looking for shelter in their garden parties and for wedding locations that require a marquee to host guests within.
Additional client requests
The company have been growing over the past 10 years and were gaining an increasing number of enquiries per day. Each enquiry would lead to the company needing to provide a custom quote based on each of their requirements. The company would have to spend time messaging or calling potential customers to discuss all of their requirements before providing a quote to customers which is often time consuming whilst staff were setting up other jobs. TM Event Hire wanted to try and reduce the need for them to be on the phone to discuss requirements and so tasked me with providing a solution on the website to allow customers to provide their requirements online for the team to then review and provide quotes based off.
The outcome
TM Event Hire are a product based company who hire out their equipment to their customers. The need to visually showcase their products and services allows customers to view whats available and envision what they would receive as part of the service when using the company. The inclusion of high-quality images and videos has helped to provide a more professional and attractive look to there customers to see they type of quality they can expect along with a sense of trust when purchasing.
Along with the imagery, the website has been designed to be in-keeping with the logo and branding of the company by following their brand colours of Blue, white and grey. This provides a consistent brand alongside their social media posts to help enhance a continuous brand online.
The inclusion of blogs allows the company to provide ongoing ways to connect with their customers by providing feedback and advice within the events industry and specifically on how the company can benefit them with the services they offer. This also helps grow the site by allowing them to enhance their SEO and gain a higher ranking on search engines.
After being asked by TM Event Hire to provide a solution to help reduce the amount of time spent collecting requirements from customers I wanted to try and take the process one step further by also providing a calculate quote automatically based on all of the requirements. My thoughts behind this would allow the team to not even need to spend time quoting the job themselves and would provide this all on the website for the customers.
When assessing the companies pricing I was made aware by how much it varies based on the number of guests and quantities of other equipment such as tables and chairs. The company has to recommend a certain marquee (which varies in price) depending on various total meaning each event is very bespoke and requires a tailor made quote each time. This proved that what I wanted to achieve would not be possible based on the companies budget due to a large amount of development required to achieve this. My alternative solution was to create a form for customers to fill out in order for TM Event Hire’s staff members to provide quotes based on the requirements supplied. The form has helped reduce the amount of time staff have had to spend on the phone to customers to gain all the information and has proved beneficial in providing an easier way to log all requirements for the business in a digital format.
